Every day your body writes a health report. Stop flushing it away.

SmartWC measures your urine every time you use the toilet: pH, concentration and temperature. It clips onto the rim, learns your personal baseline and shows you when something changes.

Your baseline

Normal is different for everyone. SmartWC learns your baseline.

Lab reference ranges are made for everyone, so they fit no one exactly. SmartWC compares every measurement with your own values. The more you use it, the better you get to know yourself.

In progress

We want to find out whether deviations from your baseline let us recognise outside influences.

Illustrative example modelled on one participant of our 2026 study.

Everyone is different

Your baseline is as individual as you are.

What you eat, how much you drink and how active you are shape your baseline. In our study it ranged from pH 5.9 to 6.8, depending on the person. It moves from day to day, and when a day stands out, SmartWC flags it.

Illustrative example based on the range of baselines in our study.

Real data from our study

Same toilet. Two very different baselines.

Two people used the same SmartWC for over two weeks. Their urine pH was almost a full unit apart. Food, exercise and much more shape a baseline. We are working out what matters most.

Person A5.94median pH, 10 visits

Person B6.90median pH, 14 visits

Our study

Developed and tested in Zurich.

We built the electronics, firmware, housing and app ourselves. Our study has been running in real households since September 2026.

NowPrototype study

26 people in 5 households use our prototype. We learn how baselines form and what changes them.

NextValidation

A controlled study shows whether our measurement can tell how much someone has drunk.

ThenProduct

A new housing, better sensors and an app you can use at home.

How it works

Set up in a minute. Then it runs on its own.

01

Clip it to the rim

The hook holds the probes in the urine stream. Connect it to your Wi-Fi once.

02

Tap to say who you are

One tap tells the sensor who is there, so the whole household can use the same toilet.

03

See your values in the app

Your values, and how today compares with your baseline.

No cartridges · No charging · No sample cups · Fits most toilets

For you

A daily view of your body, without effort

SmartWC is for anyone who wants to know how food, drinks and daily life show up in their body.

  • How much you drink, from urine concentration
  • How your diet shifts your pH
  • Alerts when a day stands out for you
For care homes

Protecting older people from dehydration

One of our goals is to support care homes and older people, for example during heatwaves, by keeping an eye on hydration and electrolyte balance and catching dehydration early.
